Sail Away

Image
I've been having another session in my craft room again, where one thing leads to another.  I'm really enjoying doing this lately.  Come and have a look: I had to make a card for a resident, and knew I wanted to use the old Sail Away stamp, as the recipient used to be in the marines, so I wanted something slightly nautical. It's hard to tell, but I've stamped a script stamp all over the cardstock.  I swiped ink direct from my ink spot over the tag, bashful blue at the top and baja breeze at the bottom, which went on beautifully, then stamped the boat, then again on white card stock, cut out the sails and glued them in place.  Loving it! Then I did this: I love this acrylic block technique.  Unfortunately I mostly have ink spots and have only just discovered that you can still do it with them, if you ink liberally all over the acrylic block with a pale ink.  I stamped it on the white cardstock and then added the Sail Away stamp.  I've fram...

Card For Sharon

I made a card last week for my manager, who turned 40.  A very important moment in a girl's life, I'm sure you'll agree!  I knew I wanted to use numbers on the card and cruised around looking for what I had in mind.  I used a card by Debby Hughes which you can see here. I used a different embossing folder.  I love this one as it's 5x7" like most of my cards.  The colour is River Rock.  I cut out the numbers with my new MFT dies and covered them in glitter glue, which you can't really see here.  I don't use glitter very often at all, but if you can't have a bit of bling when you're 40, when can you?! I've put them on a cut out using my labels collection framelits to cut out a piece of textured cardstock in Pretty in Pink and then drawn round the same frame on white cardstock and cut it out by hand.  I typed the wording on the computer and cut it out after printing it off, making it into a banner.  I've popped on a couple of pink ...

Welcome Baby!

I have been working on a very special card.  Our youngest daughter Abby and her hubby have finally had a dream come true and been able to foster a beautiful little boy.  They have been longing for this day, so I wanted to celebrate with them.  We went to visit on Sunday and I was able to take this card along with me: I've used lots of different items to make my vision a reality here, and I'm so glad I've got all these items to make this card possible! I started off by stamping the Teddy Bo (free with Simply Cards and Papercraft back in May or June) in Soft Suede ink.  Up until then I'd intended to make the card in red, blue and green, but I fell in love with the colour as soon as it touched the paper, and the rest fell into place after that. The balloons have been stamped in river rock, crumb cake and choc chip and cut out with my balloon dies and propped up on dimensionals after I'd taped some linen thread to the back.  I stamped just Teddy Bo's paw out, ...
