Card For Sharon
I made a card last week for my manager, who turned 40. A very important moment in a girl's life, I'm sure you'll agree! I knew I wanted to use numbers on the card and cruised around looking for what I had in mind. I used a card by Debby Hughes which you can see here.
I used a different embossing folder. I love this one as it's 5x7" like most of my cards. The colour is River Rock. I cut out the numbers with my new MFT dies and covered them in glitter glue, which you can't really see here. I don't use glitter very often at all, but if you can't have a bit of bling when you're 40, when can you?! I've put them on a cut out using my labels collection framelits to cut out a piece of textured cardstock in Pretty in Pink and then drawn round the same frame on white cardstock and cut it out by hand.
I typed the wording on the computer and cut it out after printing it off, making it into a banner. I've popped on a couple of pink stars and some gems on the numbers and there you are.
I loved making this card as I looked at all the elements on the original and worked out how to make my own version. I wanted to keep the style and the colour scheme and went from there.
I'm sure by now you've seen the changes that are going to happen to the SU! colours soon. I saw it on an American blog first and thought maybe it was only going to happen there, but the next day it was on all the english blogs, too!
It was a bit of a shock as I've never experienced this with SU! before, even though it sounds like it's a regular thing.
I will miss More Mustard, but even more, how can I possibly live without Baja Breeze in my life? Sob!
But I am thrilled to see Pool Party staying: let's be honest, we love it, don't we? It means I can take my time to use up my dsp without panicking.
The thing I'm really pleased about too is that Pear Pizzazz and Blushing Bride are returning, as tbh I thought it was a bit of a cheek for SU! to sell the Twitterpated dsp in the catalogue with two of the colours no longer available. Now they're back I might buy another pack of the dsp as I absolutely love it!
I suppose changing the colours means you don't get stuck in a rut with your stamping, doesn't it? And that's always a good thing.
Whatever colour ink you've picked up today, I hope you enjoy your crafting!
Back soon everyone,
Jane xx

Hi Jane
ReplyDeleteBeautiful classy card. I love River Rock and will miss it along with Baja Breeze but as you say it keeps our colour palette nice and fresh.

Lovely card Jane, the colours work beautifully together. I agree about the glitter - no 40th birthday is complete without a bit of sparkle x x
