My Lionheart

Image
I've been working on a scrapbook page for March, come and have a look: I'm so pleased with this page, I think it might be my favourite so far.  It took ages to make because I knew I wanted to do something with the ribbons that go with this scheme, so I took the plunge and ordered them.  I'm so glad I did as they really add to the page. I've also been searching all over the internet as I wanted to do my own wording.  Eventually I plumped for the MFT set from Dies to Die For.  They are fabulous to work with. Here are some details: Of course it's a photo of The Boy that provides the inspiration.  This was taken last June when I played about with an England flag with Barnaby.  He wasn't frightened of it at all.  After having these photos taken, I galloped up a hill with the flag streaming out behind me and John filmed it.  Barnaby didn't bat an eyelid.  He is such a brave boy.  (Most horses would absolutely freak out over this!) Ca...

I Remember When

Image
I just want to make it clear that I have been sticking to my goal of doing a scrapbook page once a month.  I made this page in December, but there just wasn't time to upload it before Christmas.  I'd better get my skates on if I'm going to make one in January though, as it's the 12th already.  Does anybody else think January is whizzing past? Anyway, here is a view of the overall page: This photo was taken on a day that turned out to be a turning point in my relationship with Barnaby.  We went to a competition that had an orienteering phase, in which I got completely and hopelessly lost.  In the end I gave up (after over an hour of trying to find my way out of a woods) and said to Barnaby, "Take me home!" and within half an hour we were back at the starting point.  My love for him grew enormously that day, as you can imagine. Let's have a look at some of the details: Of course, a photo of The Boy.  The map at the top is the area where the com...

Postcards From The Edge

Image
I am challenging myself to make a scrapbook page once a month, as I am  stacking up photos that I love and not doing anything with them. So without further ado, here's is this month's project: Yes, okay, most people scrapbook their daughter's wedding, or the grandchildren or their exotic holiday, but I, well, I scrapbook my horse.  And if you knew him, you'd know why. I saw this paper, called 'Cambridge' by Bo Bunny, back in 2011 and fell in love with it.  It's taken me all this time to get round to buying it, though, so I'm really glad it was still in stock. I go through a strange process every time I do a layout.  I sit there and get loads of stuff out that either matches or I think fits my theme.  Then I sit and stare at it for two hours (I kid you not!) Then I go to bed and dream about it all night. Then I get up and spend another 2-3 hours putting my dreams on paper (and finding that half of them don't work!)  This is why there is...

Love In A Cold Climate

Image
I have finished my first scrapbook with pictures of Barnaby.  I so enjoyed making this: This photo was taken last December of Barnaby and Zak in the snow.  Alll these papers are by October Afternoon and they have a really vintage feel.  I felt like my grandmother when I was cutting these up!  How sad is that?  I made the little pocket for the tag, which has loads of words regarding memories, including the quote that I used at the bottom which says, 'God gave us memories that we might have roses in December.'  I've distressed it with ink and used my distressing tool round the edges.  This little gadget is my new best friend.  I've called it 'Love In A Cold Climate' for obvious reasons, but also because that's the title of the book I was reading at the time of making this, plus the colour scheme matched the colour of the book.  Surreal.  Lots going on here, but I really like it.  I'm going to be doing a lot of scrapbooking over the ...

Bad Boy

Image
This is a page I've just finished for last November when we took Barnaby to a dressage competition.  He was so naughty in the end I couldn't ride him and hubby had to do it! Here's the page. The letters that say 'Bad Boy' are chipboard.  They are really brightly coloured, so I covered them in plain blue paper, then stamped on them with a floral stamp, which is much more what I had in mind.  The newspaper cutting bottom left is from when Barnaby got stuck over his stable door and had to be rescued by the fire brigade.  I found out later we'd been in the paper and managed  to track down the cutting.  It seemed  to fit with this page of equine naughtiness! I have only done this in a normal scrapook and have one more to go before I can start using proper 12" x 12" paper, which I'm really looking forward to, but using a normal book has meant I've had to be quite inventive.  I've also noticed I go into a slightly different brain mode when I...

Scrapbooking The Boy

Image
I absolutely love card making, but scrapbooking must come a very close second.  Last year I started a project, just in an ordinary scrapbook, of my horse Barnaby, once a month.  For some reason I've taken ages to order the photos from a ride last October, but I've finally got round to it, so this is what I made yesterday: I have decided to do a proper 12x12 scrapbook this year, but I've looked back through this scrapbook and I'm very fond of what I've made.  Each page really reflects Barnaby's character and I can see how much my relationship with him has grown.  I must do one for the grandchildren, too, that should keep me busy, shouldn't it? Have a good weekend everyone, Mrs O.
