The Other Side Of Me

You may recall me saying in a previous post that I have a thing about bicycles.  Well it's true, and sadly I can prove it!  Check this out:  I saw this card on Pinterest a while ago and immediately recognised the papers, as I have these.  They are Thrift Shop by October Afternoon.  I couldn't resist the opportunity to use some of them up, as I'm on a mission to use up as much dsp as possible this year.  The original card has stitching on the sections, but I felt this didn't really need it as I wanted to keep the focus on the stamped image.  I did like the touch of paper piecing the bike basket though, I've never done that before. A couple of weeks' ago we went to some friends' pearl wedding anniversary celebrations.  Afterwards I realised it was the perfect opportunity to make a nice thankyou card.  This is what I made: Having made the cards for church recently, I've realised I love the A6 size of card (half an A5 for those of you who aren't sure).  It's quite small, but gives lovely proportions to whatever I make.  I'm also loving 5x7 cards as I think A5 is too big.  So everything's being scaled down lately! For this card I distressed the whole surface, then stamped with my letter stamp in Marina Mist.  I made a tag and distressed it, then went around the edges with a lovely chocolate brown ink.  The image is a stickeroo from Penny Black, and so is the butterfly.  It's so thin and beautiful it feels like it's stamped, it's fabulous.  These sheets of stickers are so beautiful and such good value, I'll definitely be buying some more.  I've put a bit of gard...

Hello there folks!  Well the wind has died down so I'm off outside in a minute (to clear up the debris!) but before I do I thought I'd show you a card I made on Monday. This card is very similar to the one in the Stampin Up! minibook.  I've got the stamps and couldn't wait to have a go.  I got quite nervous as I haven't got much card, only two pieces in each colour, and didn't want to ruin it, but plunged right in. First I embossed the top of the card with a polka dot embossing folder, which you can't really see.  Then I stamped the cute little birds inside one of my Four Frames stamps and set it to one side.  Next I stamped the strip with my Penny Black letter stamp and inked it with Tim Holtz Old Paper distress ink.  Then I drew an oval on a piece of white card and tore it out.  I inked round the edges with Broken China ink.  I drew just inside it on my card and then stamped the blackberry stamp in Marina Mist which is the same colou...

I have finished my first scrapbook with pictures of Barnaby.  I so enjoyed making this: This photo was taken last December of Barnaby and Zak in the snow.  Alll these papers are by October Afternoon and they have a really vintage feel.  I felt like my grandmother when I was cutting these up!  How sad is that?  I made the little pocket for the tag, which has loads of words regarding memories, including the quote that I used at the bottom which says, 'God gave us memories that we might have roses in December.'  I've distressed it with ink and used my distressing tool round the edges.  This little gadget is my new best friend.  I've called it 'Love In A Cold Climate' for obvious reasons, but also because that's the title of the book I was reading at the time of making this, plus the colour scheme matched the colour of the book.  Surreal.  Lots going on here, but I really like it.  I'm going to be doing a lot of scrapbooking over the ...

Goodness me, it's been a hectic few days!  Hubby has been off work ill, which has made it very difficult to craft and blog, but he's feeling much better and gone back to work today, so it's all systems go!  I did manage to make this yesterday though: Another card without a stamp, you'll notice.  I've had these chipboards since last year and didn't really know what to do with them.  Keeping to my golden rule of  'never throw anything away' has been good because, on Saturday I found a book called '175 Fresh Card Ideas' by Kimber McGray in an Oxfam shop.  It is a brilliant book in which she uses very few stamps and more chipboard, die cut flowers etc, and it's very inspiring.  It was only published last year, so it's very up-to-date and I actually recognise some of the papers she's used.
