Card for Olive

Image
Hi there! It's been a while, as we've been in the process of moving house.  Although my craft room was the first room to be resurrected, I've been at work almost every day since, so the crafting opportunities have been a little on the slim side. But here's a card I made for one of the residents recently: The base is gumball green, then a white square, then a strip of gumball green dsp.  On top is a layer of white, with the sentiment stamped on.   I cut some flowers using my Sizzix dies and leaves and coloured some candy dots to match.  This was fun and easy to make so I must try to make another one soon. This was actually made a couple of weeks' ago and I've noticed the recipient has kept it, which always cheers me up no end. Thanks for looking in today.  Things are returning to normal in our lovely new house, so hopefully I'll be back soon to show you some other makes.  I've also received some fabulous cards recently, so I'll try to show you...

Beginning Project Life

Image
I've recently decided I can't stand it any longer and have succumbed and bought a proper Project Life folder and some inserts.  I've been working towards this for a long time and it's made me so happy to finally have one instead of sticking photos into a book like I have been since last August. So why do I infinitely prefer Project Life? 1.  Because you don't need to stick anything down if you don't want to.  This is a massive bonus because I've changed my mind about this first double page spread about 8 times!  2.  You can be as creative as you like or keep it really simple and everything still looks really good.  I've done everything here from using die cut letters and numbers, typing my words and printing it out, using my own handwriting, using proper photos, using parts from magazines, using free printables from the internet, the list goes on. 3.  PL folders enable you to scrap book, art journal or use it as a smash book, it's all down to ...

Card For Elsie

Image
Happy Monday morning, everyone! I just thought I'd pop in with a card I made for one of the residents last week.  It's the first square card I've made in months.  I miss it as a shape, actually.  It only ended up being square because I decided to start out by stamping my script background stamp and cutting it out with a border round it, which turned out to be more or less square.  I matted that onto a border of Summer Starfruit, then onto a white card base. Before all that, of course, I'd added the neutrals ribbon.  I'd actually stamped the leaf stamp from Summer Silhouettes onto the script, but then decided to cut some leaves with my die cut (in Gumball Green), then added the ribbon, then the flowers cut from the In Colours dsp, again in Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petals.  The recipient is a blind lady, so I like to make her a card with plenty to touch.  She really liked it, anyway, and has kept it long after her birthday, which cheers me up no...

Card Swap Group No. 4

Image
Hello all! Goodness, June was a hectic month, wasn't it?  After selling Barnaby and then going on holiday, it's been work, work, work, with very little crafting time thrown in. Paris was wonderful.  You can read more about it on my other blog here .  But now it's time to show you the card I made for Aileen last month, come and have a look: The colour is Summer Starfruit with white.  I love the ribbon that comes with these In-Colours.  I ran a piece of white cardstock through my honeycomb ef and then cut a smaller piece of Summer Starfruit cs.  The white on the small piece is stamped with the retired Dot Dot Dot stamp.  Then I've used my posy punch to stamp out a flower.  It was at this point I gave a huge sigh when I remembered I wasn't making a birthday card (brain freeze, obviously!) and that the Hello stamp in the set would be perfect. So there we are, an easy, but fun card to make.  I think I'm going to have to order a pack of Summ...

Butterflies Forever

Image
I seem to be making sets of cards lately.  You know me, once I get an idea in my head I love to play around with it.  Have a look at these: I was, of course, inspired by a card on Pinterest, this time by Erin Gonzales.  You can see her card here .  I really liked her card, but I wanted make one without the whole of the white panel being embossed so I could put a sentiment on it that could be read easily.  I loved the combination of backing paper, the little banner at the top, and of course, the butterflies.  The yellow panel at the back is Summer Starfruit, the pink is Primrose Petals and the blue is Island Indigo.  I used some of the images in Summer Silhouettes to stamp in white on the background panel. Note: It is entirely because of this card that I have bought the dsp for the In-Colours shown here.  So much for using up all my dsp! The next step was to find some stripy dsp, as I really liked this look in Erin's card....

My Lionheart

I've been working on a scrapbook page for March, come and have a look: I'm so pleased with this page, I think it might be my favourite so far.  It took ages to make because I knew I wanted to do something with the ribbons that go with this scheme, so I took the plunge and ordered them.  I'm so glad I did as they really add to the page. I've also been searching all over the internet as I wanted to do my own wording.  Eventually I plumped for the MFT set from Dies to Die For.  They are fabulous to work with. Here are some details: Of course it's a photo of The Boy that provides the inspiration.  This was taken last June when I played about with an England flag with Barnaby.  He wasn't frightened of it at all.  After having these photos taken, I galloped up a hill with the flag streaming out behind me and John filmed it.  Barnaby didn't bat an eyelid.  He is such a brave boy.  (Most horses would absolutely freak out over this!) Ca...

Birthday Parade

Image
Good morning everyone!  It's actually a sunny day as I write today's post.  Maybe spring will finally put in an appearance soon. As promised, I'm now able to show you my wonderful birthday cards. These were all made by members of my brand new card swap group, plus an extra surprise.  There is some amazing talent out there, let me tell you!  Let the parade begin: This card is from my dear friend Ann Wall.  I blame her entirely for my addiction to Stampin Up!  She runs a wonderful craft group in Derbyshire, where I learned so much.  Fabulous use of the Feeling Sentimental stamp, don't you think?  I got this as a birthday present and can't wait to ink it up. What amazed me about these cards was that each one contained something significant that I love, whether it be a colour or element on the card.  In this case, it's the bicycle as I have a passion for  images of bikes.  I adore the stamped image on this wonderfull...

Summer Silhouettes

Image
I am slowly but surely falling in love with this years in-colours, after a bit of a slow start.  I've been looking around for stamp sets that really make the most of these colours.  I came across a fab card by a lovely lady who you may know as naturecoastcrafter on Splitcoast, and you can see her original card here .  It was only later, when I looked more closely, that I realised she hadn't even used the stamp set I thought, and the one I used to make my card, the lovely Summer Silhouettes.  Come and have a look: I have heard a lot of people saying they didn't like Summer Starfruit at first, but it is the colour from the new set that appealed to me instantly, I couldn't wait to start using it, but I wanted to really show it off, and this card seemed like an excellent way of doing it.  It works beautifully with its cousin Gumball Green, used here.  I have to say the quality of this ink is nothing short of awesome.  In real life the leaves here look...
