The Other Side Of Me

Hi there! It's been a while, as we've been in the process of moving house.  Although my craft room was the first room to be resurrected, I've been at work almost every day since, so the crafting opportunities have been a little on the slim side. But here's a card I made for one of the residents recently: The base is gumball green, then a white square, then a strip of gumball green dsp.  On top is a layer of white, with the sentiment stamped on.   I cut some flowers using my Sizzix dies and leaves and coloured some candy dots to match.  This was fun and easy to make so I must try to make another one soon. This was actually made a couple of weeks' ago and I've noticed the recipient has kept it, which always cheers me up no end. I am finally able to pop on with some Christmas cards.  I have been making some every day.  I am NOT going to take such a frantic approach next year and you can hold me to that!  I need about 200 cards a year so I have got  to make some every week next year.  I could easily do it if I gave myself enough time. Anyway, on with the cards: I am finally using up the last of my Holly Berry Bouquet papers, which I must have had for about 3 years.  The colour scheme is real red, wild wasabi (although the ink I've used here is gumball green) cherry cobbler and chocolate chip (with very vanilla obviously!)  I've bought brand new inks recently so I could make lots of cards and the cherry cobbler is stunning to work with.  I kept some silver thread from a gift box earlier in the year knowing I was going to make cards like this with it, so I was very pleased to discover this in my stash. Hello all, I seem to be spending every spare minute making something at the moment, whether it's cards or stuff  for my PL folder (or my daughter's!) or preparing my first ever December Daily, my desk is never clear. Don't you  think we have the best hobby ever?  It's perfect because it doesn't depend on the weather (speaking as someone who had a horse for years, being able to stay snug indoors and craft means a great deal to me).  It's a hobby that doesn't depend on anyone else for enjoyment.  When you have a horse, unless you have your own land, there is always someone telling you to bring your horse in, sweep up, tidy up, don't let your horse do that, you can't go in the school because so-and-so got there first etc.  I love being able to craft what I want, when I want, for as long as I want, that's what makes this hobby so special for me. I am slowly but surely falling in love with this years in-colours, after a bit of a slow start.  I've been looking around for stamp sets that really make the most of these colours.  I came across a fab card by a lovely lady who you may know as naturecoastcrafter on Splitcoast, and you can see her original card here .  It was only later, when I looked more closely, that I realised she hadn't even used the stamp set I thought, and the one I used to make my card, the lovely Summer Silhouettes.  Come and have a look: I have heard a lot of people saying they didn't like Summer Starfruit at first, but it is the colour from the new set that appealed to me instantly, I couldn't wait to start using it, but I wanted to really show it off, and this card seemed like an excellent way of doing it.  It works beautifully with its cousin Gumball Green, used here.  I have to say the quality of this ink is nothing short of awesome.  In real life the leaves here look...

I've decided to play along with this week's Dynamic Duos , as I've been dying to have a play with my new In-Colour cardstock.  There is no getting away from the fact that these are 'in your face' colours.  I realised I was slightly limited as I don't have the pens yet, just the inks and cardstock, but that was good as it made me really think.  I decided not to shy away from this being a bold colour combo, but to go with it, so this is the card I made: You'll no doubt have seen the Sprinkled Expressions stamp set that I've used here.  I've stamped it in the Raspberry Ripple ink.  The new ink pads are lovely, by the way, very juicy!  I've used the framelits die to cut into the Gumball Green, which I embossed with the square lattice embossing folder.  This is definitely my new go to toy tool (!) and will be on loads of cards from now on.  I don't know why I took so long to get round to buying it really.
