Card For Lorayne

Image
Do you ever go on a bit of a journey with your cardmaking, where one thing leads naturally to another?  I know once I get an idea in my head (and it works!) I like to see where else I can go with it.  Let me explain. This card came to me in my sleep. My starting point was the dsp from Twitterpated, in the Island Indigo colour, so I sat for a while trying to decide what colours would go well with it, and it had to be this set again, ie Pool Party, Tangerine Tango and Rich Razzleberry.  I started by stamping the little flower arrangement in the top right corner, loving the fact that the leaves are in Island Indigo and not a green (because you get blue leaves, right?!)  Then I ran the card through the Bigshot with the honeycomb ef.  I was fascinated by the effect, and after that the rest of the card was a doddle.  The flower has been cut with my Sizzix flower die set, which comes with co-ordinating stamps and it rather cool!  ...

The Paper Players #95

Image
Hello there everyone, hope you've had a good Monday.  I have, despite the pain in my hand.  I'm pleased to say it hasn't stopped me crafting one bit. I'm really pleased to have made a card that I can enter at The Paper Players blog challenge .  Here are their colours for this week: Such great colours, but it took quite a bit of experimenting before I was happy with my card: It looks a bit light in the photograph, but it's lovely in real life.  I've just received my order of card stock, including a pack of Baja Breeze, so that was my jumping off point.  I tried several different stamps before deciding on the Posy Punch set, as a lot of stamps didn't have enough impact in these colours, and I wanted to make a statement.  I've substituted Real Red for Poppy Parade as I don't have any ink in that colour. The base card is 5"x7", with a layer of Baja Breeze on top.  Then the bit that frustrates me:  I really, really need a 5"x7...

LIM Week 66: Colour Challenge

Image
And the colour is... Yellow! Fortunately for me, yellow is a colour I am more than happy to footle around with (footle - technical term meaning to play, to experiement!) And so, this is my card for this week's Less Is More challenge: This is another of those cards that came to me in the middle of the night.  I decided to make it on scrap card at first to see if I liked it and to see if what was in my head actually worked on paper (not always the case) and was so pleased with it, I kept it. The stamps are from various sets, the birds are by Hobby Arts and the bird house is fairly recent and was free with a magazine.  The colours are Daffodil Delight and More Mustard. So, I stamped the bird house first and coloured it, then stamped out the birds and punched them out with my postage stamp punch.  They are the perfect size for this.  I stamped the greeting at the bottom first, then embossed a horizontal line directly above it, positioned one of the 'stamps' and...

Happy Birthday Dear Sister

Image
For some reason, I'm making cards in the wrong order at the moment.  The card I'm going to show you isn't due until the end of the month, but I haven't made the cards I need for the 12th and 13th yet.  But you know what it's like -  if inspiration strikes for a particular card, you've got to go with it, haven't you?  And so I've made a card for my sister three weeks early!  It all started while I was packing to move and saw last week's ColourQ challenge, which used these colours: They just seemed perfect for my sister's card, which I wanted to be really bright: This is where Margaret comes in.  I won the stamp that says 'Sister' in her blog candy giveaway a few weeks ago and have been dying to use it.  Of course, this is the perfect opportunity, isn't it?  The stamp is from Papermania.  I stamped it onto the card in Tempting Turquoise, then embossed a line above and below it.  I stamped the flowers from the Posy Punch...

ColourQ Challenge #126 and St Luke's

Image
Good morning all!  We seem to have slipped temporarily back into winter this morning.  There was snow yesterday and ice everywhere today.  My poor horses don't know whether they're coming or going! My mojo is well and truly up and running and I've decided to combine two challenges today.  The first one is the ColourQ challenge .  I try to join in with this whenever they use colours I've got.  Here is this week's inspiration:       This is certainly a colour palette I can relate to. The other challenge is the St Luke's Charity Card challenge.   I did promise myself I'd have a go every month this year, but I haven't been able to until now.  It's for such a worthy cause, though, I'm so pleased I can enter this month.  They want to see cards with a spring theme.  You're probably already thinking how you could combine these two challenges yourself, so here is my take on it: All the colours used...
