Less Is More: Week 57, Colour

Image
It's been an interesting time of late.  It's one thing when your mojo gets up and goes but quite another when your mojo's alive and well but life's little hiccups get in the way of your crafting! And so, it was with great pleasure that I sat down last night and made a card for the Less Is More challenge this week.  It's a colour challenge, and the colours to be used are neutrals.  Now, I may still be fairly new to crafting, but I do have a history of dabbling in interior design, as I love fabric and paint, and neutrals are my favourite things. I've been wanting to make a topper like this for ages.  I cut a piece of textured card using my  Square Labels No1.die and scored it about a quarter of the way along and folded it over.  I cut some of the other 3/4 off so it goes to a point at the back, and cut a piece of the same card to stamp the image on.  The stamp is from the Stampin Up! Faith In Nature set.  I am so excited to own this becaus...

Less Is More: Week 55 - Theme

Good afternoon, everyone!  I've managed to snatch five minutes in a hectic day.  Firstly I must say what a fantastic day I had yesterday at the cardmaking workshop.  I arrived at 10am, left at 3.45 and apart from a brief stop for a gorgeous lunch, did nothing but craft.  It was bliss, and I would like to say a huge thankyou to Anne and Jo for putting it on for us.  It must be a lot of work for them from the planning stage onwards, but I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute of it (and there's another one in April!)  I will be showing you the cards we made as soon as I can. But for today, it gives me great pleasure to be able to enter a card for the LIM challenge .  This week Mandi and Chrissie want us to use punches or die cuts on our cards, but keeping to the clean and simple style.  I can't believe how many entries there are on there already, but I've decided not to look at them until my card is on, so here is my entry: This is another c...

LIM Theme - Silhouette

Image
Good afternoon blog friends!  How cheerful am I, considering I have raging toothache?!  I am going to have to phone the dentist as soon as I've done this, which is not something I'm looking forward to.  Maybe I'll linger in blogland a while first! Anyway, I did say yesterday that I had a card to show you that was very quick to make.  As soon as you see it, you'll see why! I was gazing lovingly at the Less Is More challenge this week, which is to use silhouettes, when I realised I had this stamp (from Little Claire Designs) and hadn't even used it yet.  I am so excited to be able to enter a card on my favourite challenge blog! I've used the Labels 1 die from Nestabilities to cut the shape and stamp the image on it, then drew round the die on the red card to make the frame.  I do appreciate the irony of buying a set of dies only to draw round one and cut it out by hand, but it's a really easy shape to cut neatly and well worth the effort.  Although ...

Sympathy 2

Image
Good morning, everyone!  It's blowing a gale out there and I have several jobs to do outside.  I've decided to fortify myself with a cup of coffee first, so I thought I'd pop a post on while I've got ten minutes. This is the second sympathy card I made for our farriers: As you can see, I decided to keep it very simple.  The stamp is from Penny Black. I always think of poppies for remembrance, but decided not to be conventional and chose blue to colour it.  I've painted it with Aquamarkers, straight onto the card.  Nerve wracking, but surprisingly easy.  I mixed my blue and green to get the green for the leaves.  I'm amazed that it stays so consistent and doesn't show through the card.  The sentiment is computer generated and backed with a border just coloured with Cornflower Blue Promarker. For some reason I'm losing the ability to use sketches to make cards.  I've no idea why this is, except that my style is changing and I'm having ...

Clean and Simple - first time ever!

First of all, I just want to say a massive thankyou to Margaret at Christian Chick Crafts as I've won her candy!  I am thrilled.  I got a big package in the post and wondered what on earth it was, as I didn't realise I'd won at the time.  I've got the most amazing stuff, look here: I kept putting my hand in the envelope and it just kept on giving!  There are beautiful stamps and every kind of embellishment known to man, plus glitter, and some bottle tops, which are something I've been dying to use, so I am delighted.  It'll keep me busy for months.  Thankyou so much, Margaret.  Isn't blogging exciting?  You never know what's going to happen next... Finally, I've had a go at a clean and simple card.  As you know, the problem with Promarkers is that they go through whatever cardstock you use and can be seen on the other side.  So there is no way you can stamp directly onto your card and colour it in. So I thought I'd risk ruini...
