The Other Side Of Me

As promised, here is the birthday card I've sent to my aunt.  This was one of the last cards I made at craft class before we moved. Sorry to say the photograph doesn't do enough justice to the image, which is beautifully shiny, without being too much.  The stencil is Sweet Poppy by The Craft Station Ltd.  I am pleased with it because we used Dreamweaver paste.  The last time I used it, well over a year ago, I was absolutely hopeless with it and made a real mess.  I do think there is a skill in spreading the paste on properly.  We took the stencil off and added Glamour Dust, one of my favourite things (considering I don't really do glitter).  The lattice down the left hand side was cut with a die which I think is from We R Memory Keepers (hoping Jo will correct me if I'm wrong!) and is very delicate.  I actually used spray adhesive to mount it.  The St Luke's Charity Card Challenge wants to see cards with bling, so I'm happily enterin...

Good morning all!  We seem to have slipped temporarily back into winter this morning.  There was snow yesterday and ice everywhere today.  My poor horses don't know whether they're coming or going! My mojo is well and truly up and running and I've decided to combine two challenges today.  The first one is the ColourQ challenge .  I try to join in with this whenever they use colours I've got.  Here is this week's inspiration:       This is certainly a colour palette I can relate to. Hi everyone, I hope you've had a good weekend and enjoyed the fireworks on Saturday (here in the UK.)  I am pleased to say, despite the workload, that I've been able to keep on cardmaking, much to my joy. A couple of monthly challenges have popped up that have inspired me, so this card is for: St Luke's Charity Card Challenge      and Ready-Teddy-Go Challenge. If you don't know by now, let me tell you that I have a bit of a thing about bears.  There is always room for one more in my house, and always room for one more in my stamp collection.  I tend to use them a lot on cards for my hubby, whether it's birthday, Christmas or our Anniversary.  I tend to buy a new stamp for these occasions, use it on a design for him first, then 'release' it to be used for other people. I've finally got around to making my card for the St Luke's Hospice Challenge this month, which is titled, 'Black, White and One Other Colour', so this is what I've made: Every so often I get lucky with peel-offs and have a good idea of what to do with them, but not very often!   I've put the bird peel-off onto glitter card, which is very shiny, even though it's hard to tell from the photograph.  I've embossed a bigger piece of card, which I'm glad you can see in the photo, and added it to my white card base.  I've taken the peel-off leaves and put it across the middle, then added my image with sticky fixers underneath.  After a lot of faffing about, I stamped and heat embossed the wording, 'A little bird told me...' which continues inside the card with '... it's your birthday,' and just backed it on a piece of black card.  I really enjoyed making this, it was one of those 'make it up as you go along' cards, but I...

I've managed to combine two challenges to make this card, which was very useful for me. It took absolute ages in the planning stage.  I played about with papers and colours until I was happy with the colour scheme.  I stamped the fairy once and wasn't happy with the way I coloured it, stamped it again and coloured it differently and was happier, but not totally satisfied.  Then I stamped it on cream card instead of white and suddenly it was exactly what I was looking for. It's amazing how such a little change can make such a huge difference to the overall effect. The papers are from my Country Diary collection.  I didn't have a clue how to do the two little clasps on the right hand side, thinking, 'Poor me, I don't have a special cutter!' It came to me in the middle of the night, to use my script stamp on cream card and cut it out like I have done.  The sentiment was the only quick bit! I must confess it's taken me a while to get an idea for this challenge this month, as they want us to use patterns, stripes, dots, zigzags etc.  I decided to get the weekend out of the way, and then knuckle down to it before it's too late. And so here is my card for this entry: This is my first ever attempt at a Father's Day card, but these gorgeous new stamps from Lili of the Valley are so sweet I couldn't resist having a go.  I am definitely on a roll with cards for men now (two more to come that I've made recently).  The papers are by Papermania, and this colour scheme is the Blueberry Pie collection.  As you can see, I've used stripes and polka dots from the range. Good morning everyone, let's see if this works! Here is my card for the St Luke's Hospice challenge: I'm so glad I've found this blog. They are raising money for a hospice in Sheffield, not very far away from us at all, and it's because of this that I've decided to pluck up the courage to have a go at my very first challenge blog. The theme is 'Say it with Flowers', which I think I have done, don't you? The stamps are from Pink Petticoat, but they were free with Simply Cards and Papercraft (rapidly becoming my favourite magazine). I didn't have any matching backing paper, so I got out the little daisy stamp and stamped all over a piece of card, so I could colour them with Promarkers and they'd match the little toppers exactly. The blue border was just plain card coloured with a blue Promarker too, so that matches as well. The ribbon was just a piece of green from my stash, but it worked a treat.
