The Other Side Of Me

Hello all! Goodness, June was a hectic month, wasn't it?  After selling Barnaby and then going on holiday, it's been work, work, work, with very little crafting time thrown in. Paris was wonderful.  You can read more about it on my other blog here .  But now it's time to show you the card I made for Aileen last month, come and have a look: The colour is Summer Starfruit with white.  I love the ribbon that comes with these In-Colours.  I ran a piece of white cardstock through my honeycomb ef and then cut a smaller piece of Summer Starfruit cs.  The white on the small piece is stamped with the retired Dot Dot Dot stamp.  Then I've used my posy punch to stamp out a flower.  It was at this point I gave a huge sigh when I remembered I wasn't making a birthday card (brain freeze, obviously!) and that the Hello stamp in the set would be perfect. You may recall me saying in a previous post that I have a thing about bicycles.  Well it's true, and sadly I can prove it!  Check this out:  I saw this card on Pinterest a while ago and immediately recognised the papers, as I have these.  They are Thrift Shop by October Afternoon.  I couldn't resist the opportunity to use some of them up, as I'm on a mission to use up as much dsp as possible this year.  The original card has stitching on the sections, but I felt this didn't really need it as I wanted to keep the focus on the stamped image.  I did like the touch of paper piecing the bike basket though, I've never done that before. I've stamped the bike in Basic Gray ink, just to make it slightly softer and coloured it with a grey Promarker.  I haven't used those for ages, I'd forgotten what fun they are. The cardstock is Very Vanilla, but I've gone over it with my Tim Holtz old paper distress ink. Good morning everyone!  It's actually a sunny day as I write today's post.  Maybe spring will finally put in an appearance soon. As promised, I'm now able to show you my wonderful birthday cards. These were all made by members of my brand new card swap group, plus an extra surprise.  There is some amazing talent out there, let me tell you!  Let the parade begin: This card is from my dear friend Ann Wall.  I blame her entirely for my addiction to Stampin Up!  She runs a wonderful craft group in Derbyshire, where I learned so much.  Fabulous use of the Feeling Sentimental stamp, don't you think?  I got this as a birthday present and can't wait to ink it up. What amazed me about these cards was that each one contained something significant that I love, whether it be a colour or element on the card.  In this case, it's the bicycle as I have a passion for  images of bikes.  I adore the stamped image on this wonderfull...

Hello blog friends!  Is it still freezing where you are?  It's really cold here and we still have some snow, but hubby hasn't had any problems driving to work, which means I'll be able to get to craft group tonight, thank goodness.  Is it wrong to be so excited about something like that?! So let me tell you what happened last week.  Over on the Little Claire Designs blog, they've showcased their latest stamp release, and very nice they are too, all very 'summer in the garden' (something I think we're all looking forward to!) All you had to do was leave a comment on the stamp of the day to be in with a chance of being picked to win the stamp.  And guess what?  I won!  There were 61 comments on the day I was picked, so I was thrilled, as you can imagine. Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good weekend.  Ours was hectic as usual.  I had a sale of my cards at church yesterday and I'm thrilled to say I made £30 to go towards the work of our scheme for helping the homeless, called 'MAD' which stands for 'Make A Difference.'  I am thrilled to have been able to make a contribution, and even picked up a couple of commissions, so it was very exciting.  I got lots of lovely compliments on my cards, too.  So a good day, all in all. Onto my card for today: Autumn is my favourite season, so if I can get away with using autumn colours in a card, I will!  This is my first go with my new bird die from Marianne Creatables.  I've just backed it onto a white oval and used orange bazzil card and a sheet of paper from the orange Papermania set. It doesn't take much to make me happy.  A new set of stamps is guaranteed to do the trick.  I've been playing with my Clearly For You set from Stampin Up!  This is what I've made: This card makes such good use of all the stamps in the set.  I've used my Marina Mist card stock and ink again.  I am using a lot of 5"x7" cardstock lately.  It's not as big as A5 and I really love it.  Here's a close-up of the little birds.  Aren't they cute?  I love birds on cards anyway, but these are so sweet.  This is my flower.  I used my Marianne Designs die, which I love, but cut a normal circle out and inked it, then added a gem for the centre.  I am so pleased with the results. It's been a busy week, but I've made quite a few cards, so hopefully I'll get some time over the weekend to put a few more on for you. Thanks for dropping by. Jane xx
