Birdy Says...

Image
Good morning everyone, I hope you had a good weekend.  Ours was hectic as usual.  I had a sale of my cards at church yesterday and I'm thrilled to say I made £30 to go towards the work of our scheme for helping the homeless, called 'MAD' which stands for 'Make A Difference.'  I am thrilled to have been able to make a contribution, and even picked up a couple of commissions, so it was very exciting.  I got lots of lovely compliments on my cards, too.  So a good day, all in all. Onto my card for today: Autumn is my favourite season, so if I can get away with using autumn colours in a card, I will!  This is my first go with my new bird die from Marianne Creatables.  I've just backed it onto a white oval and used orange bazzil card and a sheet of paper from the orange Papermania set. Here's a close-up of the sentiment: I've used my new Four Frames die and stamp from Stampin Up! but I've used an orange Promarker to stamp it out, as proof to everyone i...

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Image
We can't be the only people in life that start preparing for Christmas this early, can we?  I know some of you started making Christmas cards for challenges the minute the new year started, so technically I am quite behind.  But it's hard to feel festive when the sun is shining. Anyway, I've decided to knuckle down and got all my Christmas card making stuff out of the drawer and spread it out on my kitchen table.  All I can say is, 'what a lot I've got!'  This threw me completely, so I decided to start by writing a list of recipients, which made life a lot easier.  I need a person in mind when I make cards. So this is the first one, to my sister and brother in law: It's actually on kraft card, which you can't see until you open it, but the colours go really well together.  The papers are MME but they're free, with the chipboards, from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine and they're beautiful.  I'll probably use every bit of it.  The button ...

A Bug's Life

Image
Sorry this isn't a great photo of this card, I didn't realise there was a shadow on it, it seems to depend what time of day I take the photograph. I could hardly wait for these scalloped card blanks to arrive from Which Craft so I could start playing with them. At first I was just going with the daffodils stamp (from Woodware) but then got a bit carried away into a fantasy land of bugs and flowers and birds. The sentiment says, 'Bugs and kisses' which is really appropriate (from Pink Petticoat) and the flower button was one I had in my stash that worked really well. I wasn't looking forward to cutting the scallops out of my backing paper, but I found it really easy with my craft knife. I can't wait to use them again. Hope you like it, Mrs O.

For My Friend

Image
I've had loads of family and friend cards to make in April, I don't know why it's such a popular month. The card above is for my dear friend Priscilla, a true sister in Christ. I love this cute image from Pink Petticoat. I had a big dither about which colours to use on it, as I wish I could match the backing paper, but it's still quite sweet. The paper is MME Wild Asparagus, by the way. These are the papers I originally bought to scrapbook with, but I've used a lot of it for cards as well and still have loads left. The sentiment says, 'Have a tweet day!' which is really cute. I've just finished it off with little roses from Wild Orchid crafts. They always manage to lift a card out of the ordinary into something really special. I'm off to eat my last Easter egg (sob!) Have a great day everyone, Mrs O.
