The Other Side Of Me

Oh boy, have I been having fun.  This is the card I made last week for my youngest daughter.  I got a bit carried away... All I knew was that I wanted to make an easel card where the centre piece was this fancy square shape.  The card I'd seen that inspired me looked nothing like this! I started with the Spellbinder die (if you have the Top Note die it will be perfect) and cut some of this beautiful Everyday Enchantment dsp.  It contains Poppy Parade and Soft Suede, so I combined them on the butterfly at the top and stamped one of the sentiments from the butterfly set.  Then I went to town a bit on the inside, look: I've used the Fresh Vintage stamp set (retired) and stamped all around the edge.  But of course my favourite bit is the Four Frames stamp at the bottom, with the little birds from the Clearly For You stamp set, how sweet is that?  But I wasn't finished there.  I recently looked on You Tube for a video on how to make a post-it n...

A friend of mine has asked for a card for her mum, so this is what I made: I have CASEd it from Marisa's card here,  (I checked and it deffo says you can case her stuff!)  I am going through a phase of loving this whole thing of a sentiment with a lot of white space, but on a scalloped shape, so there may be more of these to come.  It's really made me realise I don't have many exciting sentiment stamps.  I'll have to rectify that, won't I? (*Giggles*!) I've used a different embossing folder for my background.  All the pink cardstock is Pretty In Pink.  The flower is punched out with my posy punch.  I stamped the posy punch flower onto white card, cut the centre flower out and propped it up in the centre of my pink flower to add a bit of depth.  I added pink ribbon instead of yellow, largely because the bow was already tied for me! (You don't buy a dog and bark yourself, do you?)  I kept looking at it and wondering where I'd...

Hello there!  I hope you've managed to have a peaceful and relaxing Easter weekend, with family and friends.  We've been busy getting the house in shape, seeing to the horses and shopping, but I've finally managed to take a couple of pics of my new craftroom, so here we are: To anyone else, this would be a dining room, but in our case I'm afraid eating plays second fiddle to crafting! (You've got to get your priorities right, haven't you?!) It's quite an experience having a whole room to use.  You'll probably remember my desk from a previous post.  The printer is plugged in next to it, and to the left of that are my clear boxes full of embellishments.  Here's my old desk: I've put my little texture boutique on here and the front of those stacking baskets is full of all my embossing folders.  Much better than rummaging through a drawer every time I need one. Hello there!  I am a big fan of The Paper Players challenge blog and follow it avidly week by week (yes I spend a lot of time reading blogs!) and so finally I'm able to join in this week.  It's a colour challenge: Now here's the silly thing... when I saw these colours I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them, but when I actually tried it, it didn't work!  So I played and played and had practically every stamp out that I own, and then in the end, this is what I made: The thing that's brilliant about these challenges is that they're helping me to learn about proportion, i.e. whether everything is to scale (you know what it's like when you have a tiny stamp that disappears on your card) and the way colours work together.  Years ago (yes, I'm quite old!) there was a brilliant book called Colour Me Beautiful which explained very cleverly about how to dress and keep colour and pattern in proportion.  It talked about main colours and accent c...

In our Wednesday night craft group we have been given a list of all the members' birthdays so we all make cards for each other.  It is Jo's birthday today, and this is what I made for her: The cardstock is Rose Red, which I've put through my Bigshot in a flourish embossing folder.  I'm sorry, I've never known what it's called as it came in the post last year, with another one, with no address of the sender (and I didn't order it!) so it's a bit of a mystery.  It's a very pretty folder, though.
