Birdhouse Garland

Hello blog friends!  Is it still freezing where you are?  It's really cold here and we still have some snow, but hubby hasn't had any problems driving to work, which means I'll be able to get to craft group tonight, thank goodness.  Is it wrong to be so excited about something like that?!
So let me tell you what happened last week.  Over on the Little Claire Designs blog, they've showcased their latest stamp release, and very nice they are too, all very 'summer in the garden' (something I think we're all looking forward to!)
All you had to do was leave a comment on the stamp of the day to be in with a chance of being picked to win the stamp.  And guess what?  I won!  There were 61 comments on the day I was picked, so I was thrilled, as you can imagine.
The moment the stamp arrived, I inked it up and had a play, then yesterday made what I am sure will be the first of many cards with this beautiful stamp:
When I get a new stamp I stamp it into my sketch book and have a play about with it to get a feel for it (do you?)  To be honest, this is very similar to the design on the packaging, but it was so pretty, I decided to leave it.  I've coloured it with my Stamp n Write markers, and cut it out with my favourite Spellbinders die.  I decided to keep it simple and symmetrical with the sentiment at the bottom.  I'm going to stamp one of the bird houses by themselves inside the card and then I'll be happy.
This is because it's gradually dawning on me that, unlike my beloved Promarkers, when you colour with Stamp n Write markers, the ink doesn't show through on the back of the card.  I know you already know this, but it's quite a revelation when it dawns on you.  No wonder people make all those one-layer cards!
This stamp is so beautiful (and big) that you could easily stamp it straight onto your cardstock and colour with the markers, which may be the next thing I try.

Thanks for looking in today, dear friends, and thankyou so much for your kind comments, they're very uplifting.  What would blogging be without people like you?
Join me again soon,

  1. Jane what a gorgeous card just love your little bird houses and they are beautifully coloured.
You asked what colour my stamp pad was on my card it is Tempting a turquoise by Stampin Up, the little flower punch unfortunately doesn't have a name on it but it is very tiny...

  3. I will not lie. It's been warm (40+F) here in New Jersey, USA. But never fear, there is a cold spell coming for the weekend--with some snow.

You card makes me yearn for Spring. What a precious design.
