Sympathy 2

Good morning, everyone!  It's blowing a gale out there and I have several jobs to do outside.  I've decided to fortify myself with a cup of coffee first, so I thought I'd pop a post on while I've got ten minutes.
This is the second sympathy card I made for our farriers:

As you can see, I decided to keep it very simple.  The stamp is from Penny Black. I always think of poppies for remembrance, but decided not to be conventional and chose blue to colour it.  I've painted it with Aquamarkers, straight onto the card.  Nerve wracking, but surprisingly easy.  I mixed my blue and green to get the green for the leaves.  I'm amazed that it stays so consistent and doesn't show through the card.  The sentiment is computer generated and backed with a border just coloured with Cornflower Blue Promarker.
For some reason I'm losing the ability to use sketches to make cards.  I've no idea why this is, except that my style is changing and I'm having a lot more ideas of my own of how I want to do things, rather than copying someone else's idea.  I suppose that's what happens when you've been card making for a while.  It will be two years this Christmas, I can't believe how quickly the time has gone.  It's a truly thrilling journey, isn't it, and I thank you for coming along on mine.
Well I'm off to battle the elements.
You guys stay cosy and warm!
Jane xx

  1. This card is so serene and perfect for a sympathy card. Thanks for the tip about fingerprints on the tree. It gives me an idea for my grandson to do.

  2. Hope you wrapped up warm today Jane! Your card is truly beautiful, simple and elegant. Love the subtle colouring with the Aquamarkers.
I guess you don't need sketches anymore because you are more confident in your own ability, and quite right too, you should be so proud of your cards. Michelle x x

  4. A beautiful CAS card. Really elegant.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Ages ago I saw a card on someone's blog that was using an army monkey in a jeep. Thought it would be perfect for my son but when I looked on the site the digi wasn't there. I sent an email to Sew Many Cards asking if it was still available and by return was sent copies of all the army digi stamps including the one I asked about as freebies. I couldn't not use the army baby on a card for him now that he's a Dad

Sending hugs, Em x
