Card for Richard

Hello all, I hope you've had a good weekend, and have had a chance to get into your crafting area or maybe even been to an exhibition.  I would have loved to have been at the Doncaster Dome, but I'm afraid horsey business took precedence this weekend. 
I've still been busy though.  This is the latest card I made for one member of our Bible Study group:

Everything on here is from Stampin Up! and it was a joy to make.  We tore a piece of scrap paper with a jagged edge, then taped it in place about two-thirds over to the left hand side, covering up the rest of the card blank.  Then we sponged the revealed area with Old Olive ink.  We kept the scrap paper in place while we stamped the leaves in Early Espresso.  I wasn't too sure about these leaves in the catalogue, but they make a striking image when you use them, so these may well go on my shopping list.
Next we stamped the tree in Old Olive, but used an Early Espresso pen just to dab ink randomly on the body of the tree, but taking a line of it down the trunk too, to give it that shadow.  I couldn't believe how well this stamped out, I think we were all a bit astonished really!
We tore the paper that we'd stamped the tree on, then inked the edges with Early Espresso.  We've layered it up, as you can see, onto Old Olive, then Early Espresso card.  We stamped the image and added the three dots, and that was it.  A lovely card to make, and I felt it was perfect for a man.  I think the recipient liked it anyway.  It was very difficult to scoot round church trying to get people in the group to sign it, without him noticing.  He must have wondered what we were up to!

Cardstock: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Old Olive, all SU
Stamps: Autumn Splendour, Lovely As a Tree
Inks: Old Olive, Early Espresso
Sentiment: Heard From The Heart

Thanks for dropping in today, I appreciate it that you make time for me in your busy schedules.  Mine is about to become even busier soon as the horses start coming in at night, and the real hard work begins!

Hi folks, hope you're having a good weekend.  I can hardly believe I'm posting again so soon, but I really wanted to get this card on before it's too late. Here are another couple of challenge blogs I've been following since just before Christmas, but I haven't had enough supplies to be able to join in.  The first one is the Colour Q challenge  which as you can see, wants us to use the colours shown in the picture, put together beautifully in the skirt.  I don't have any of the Stampin Up! In Colours yet, so this is the first time I've been able to have a go.  The second challenge blog is Freshly Made Sketches.  I saw this and wondered if I could combine the two challenges. And so here is my card: First of all, I rotated the sketch, I just couldn't work it that way up! I decided to use a kraft card base, and stamped the image (sorry I can't remember the name of it) which I'd inked up in Old Olive, Real Red and More Mustard.

Freshly Made Sketches No. 22

I've had one of those conversations with lovely, lovely hubby.  You know the sort: DH: Can you make me a birthday card for work, please? Me: Of course darling, who's it for? DH: (In a voice of doom) A male colleague  (Cue thunder and lightening!) Me: (Swallowing) No problem.  When do you want it by? DH: (Casually) Tomorrow. Me: You're 'avin a larf! But have I let the situation defeat me?  No, I have not!  But I would like to say a huge thankyou to Freshly Made Sketches , for coming up with one of the most wonderful, and inspiring, sketches I've ever seen. This is what they've given us to work with: And this is the card I made using the sketch: I actually made a prototype card first, just using paper, as there was quite a lot of measuring to work out before I put everything together.  The card is 5x7" but then I went into metric for everything else (The joys of going to school in the '70's!) Dynamic Duos No. 1

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great Bank Holiday weekend (here in the UK), even if it is raining! Now, many of you probably already know Lesley Croghan, owner of the wonderful Always Playing With Paper blog, who runs her Merry Monday challenge from there.  If you don't, you certainly should pop over when you get time. Anyway, she's now hosting a new challenge, called Dynamic Duos, which you can find here : Her first colour choice is Pool Party and Lucky Limeade, and I couldn't resist having a go.  This is what I've made: The base is 5x7" in Very Vanilla.  (Neutrals are allowed, thank goodness!)  Then I've taken a piece of watercolour card, which is very similar to the vanilla, with the addition of a lovely texture.  I've punched out a flower using my Posy Punch, very close to the edge, so it leaves a gap.  I've put dimensionals on the back of the water colour paper and stuck it onto one of the sheets from the Everyday Enchantment
