Card For Ana

Good morning everyone!  After the bizaare weather yesterday we have sunshine so I am popping on with a quick post before I go and ride The Boy (more about him in a post coming soon).
This year I have decided to make a birthday card for all of my work colleagues as well as the residents, so here is the card I made for Ana:
I saw a similar card on Pinterest, by a lady called Cathy (Maine Mountain Stamper) and decided to have a go.
When I look at a card I want to make the first thing I do is ask myself what it is about the card that appeals to me.  Why do I want to CASE it?  In this 'case' (!) it was the colour combination, which turned out to be Calypso Coral and Pool Party, but I loved the whole 'flowers in a row' thing, and the use of the squares.
So my next job is to work out how I can replicate this style, especially if I don't have the stamps or dies used on the original card.  My flowers are from a set by Little Claire Designs, which worked perfectly.  I've used a Nestability to cut my square shape out and the 'Celebrate' sentiment is from 'Outlined Occasions' a retired set from last year which is going to stay on my stamp shelf for a very long time.
Ana is Romanian, by the way, and she says they don't really send birthday cards to each other there.  They only send Christmas cards to people they won't be seeing over Christmas.  But since coming to England, this is one tradition she and the other girls have embraced with gusto and she was thrilled to receive this card.
Thanks for popping in today.  I've tried to challenge myself to post every day this week, but it all went wrong yesterday when I ended up going in to work (on my week off!)
But I'm pretty sure I'll be back tomorrow.
Feel free to leave a comment, I love to know what you think.

  3. I really like the colour combination - works so well together. I like the frame too, it really sets it off. Shame you had to go into work. Hope you manage to get some more cards made x x
