Doily Days

I am loving using doilies on my cards.  Here's one I made earlier!
The great thing about this card was that I found another way of using my beautiful Prima 'Melody' papers.  As soon as I saw these I felt that they are the sort of papers you want to use in their entirety, i.e. not cut up at all, but I wasn't sure how to do it.  This turns out to be a very good way.
The card is 6x6 square.  I've covered the inside with one whole sheet.  It's got a beautiful space in it where you could write your greeting.
Then I cut the front of the card in half diagonally, and covered the triangle with another sheet of matching paper, so when the card is closed the front and back line up exactly.  Quite honestly, these papers are so pretty, I could almost have walked away there and not done another thing to them.
But no!  I've added a doily that I've stained with Old Paper distress ink and inked it round the edges.  I've cut a scalloped circle from another paper in the set, and I've cut a circle which I've stamped with tiny flowers.  Then on top of that comes a die cut bird on a branch, in pink glitter card.  I've added a little pink bow top left, which holds my two pins and at the bottom I've stamped a ticket sentiment and stamped WISH on it, with my individual letter stamps.  In a way, this bit pleases me most of all (I'm easily pleased!)
I've got more of these papers, so will definitely be making another similar card.  I'm running out of doilies, though, so wondering if it might be time to invest in a doily die.  The whole thing has turned out with a feel like a beautiful piece of fabric you've found in a trunk in your granny's attic and I'm very pleased with it.  Every so often you make a card and want to cling onto it, don't you?  This is definitely one of those!
Thanks for looking in today.  Leave me a comment and let me know what you think, I love to hear from you in my little corner of Blogland!
