Card Swap Group, July

The challenge I set for July was to use black, white and either pool party or bermuda bay.  I was amazed at how quickly everybody has made their cards this time around, and they're all fab.  Anyway, here's mine:

I used up my last piece of pool party cardstock for the base so I couldn't afford for anything to go wrong!  (No pressure!) The base paper is from a black and white set I've had for ages (docrafts I think).  Then I had to play with my new toy tool which is my Sizzix polaroid die.  It really is the most awesome thing.  I bought it primarily for my Project Life folder but I went on Pinterest and saw some fab cards made with it and just had to have a go.
The stamp is, of course, Summer Silhouettes, in black and pool party and the flower is a Marianne die.  I stamped the sentiment and was thrilled that it came out perfectly on the frame.
I had a lot of fun making this and got loads of ideas for more cards.  This challenge just reminded me why I love this colour combination so much.

    Finally catching up with things! Your card is beautiful Jane, I love the polaroid die - I have something similar from SU. The flower stamp is one of my favourites. Although I haven't made my card yet (!!), the challenge is a great one - such a classy colour combination x x

Hi folks, hope you're having a good weekend.  I can hardly believe I'm posting again so soon, but I really wanted to get this card on before it's too late. Here are another couple of challenge blogs I've been following since just before Christmas, but I haven't had enough supplies to be able to join in.  The first one is the Colour Q challenge  which as you can see, wants us to use the colours shown in the picture, put together beautifully in the skirt.  I don't have any of the Stampin Up! In Colours yet, so this is the first time I've been able to have a go.  The second challenge blog is Freshly Made Sketches.  I saw this and wondered if I could combine the two challenges. And so here is my card: First of all, I rotated the sketch, I just couldn't work it that way up! The Paper Players #95

Hello there everyone, hope you've had a good Monday.  I have, despite the pain in my hand.  I'm pleased to say it hasn't stopped me crafting one bit. I'm really pleased to have made a card that I can enter at The Paper Players blog challenge .  Here are their colours for this week: Such great colours, but it took quite a bit of experimenting before I was happy with my card: It looks a bit light in the photograph, but it's lovely in real life.  I've just received my order of card stock, including a pack of Baja Breeze, so that was my jumping off point.  I tried several different stamps before deciding on the Posy Punch set, as a lot of stamps didn't have enough impact in these colours, and I wanted to make a statement.  I've substituted Real Red for Poppy Parade as I don't have any ink in that colour. The base card is 5"x7", with a layer of Baja Breeze on top.  Then the bit that frustrates me:  I really, really need a 5"x7...

The Paper Players # 86

Hello there!  I am a big fan of The Paper Players challenge blog and follow it avidly week by week (yes I spend a lot of time reading blogs!) and so finally I'm able to join in this week.  It's a colour challenge: Now here's the silly thing... when I saw these colours I knew exactly what I wanted to do with them, but when I actually tried it, it didn't work!  So I played and played and had practically every stamp out that I own, and then in the end, this is what I made: The thing that's brilliant about these challenges is that they're helping me to learn about proportion, i.e. whether everything is to scale (you know what it's like when you have a tiny stamp that disappears on your card) and the way colours work together.  Years ago (yes, I'm quite old!) there was a brilliant book called Colour Me Beautiful which explained very cleverly about how to dress and keep colour and pattern in proportion.  It talked about main colours and accent c...
