Butterflies Forever

I seem to be making sets of cards lately.  You know me, once I get an idea in my head I love to play around with it.  Have a look at these:
I was, of course, inspired by a card on Pinterest, this time by Erin Gonzales.  You can see her card here.  I really liked her card, but I wanted make one without the whole of the white panel being embossed so I could put a sentiment on it that could be read easily.  I loved the combination of backing paper, the little banner at the top, and of course, the butterflies.  The yellow panel at the back is Summer Starfruit, the pink is Primrose Petals and the blue is Island Indigo.  I used some of the images in Summer Silhouettes to stamp in white on the background panel.
Note: It is entirely because of this card that I have bought the dsp for the In-Colours shown here.  So much for using up all my dsp!

The next step was to find some stripy dsp, as I really liked this look in Erin's card.  I only have one set, and that's the subtles, so I had a look through and before you know it, I was making this monochromatic card with Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum.  This time it was bling all round, too, but actually I think it would make a good sympathy card with an appropriate sentiment.

Then I read a blog post about retiring colours, and was looking through my subtles papers and this happened:

This time, the colours are Certainly Celery, a colour I'm very fond of, Bashful Blue and Pretty In Pink.  A good way to use up retiring card stock, I thought.  The sentiment is from the Feeling Sentimental set.  This is actually for one of the residents, but it made me think of  a new born baby card with this colour scheme.
I did have a productive day, didn't I?!

    Lovely cards Jane. I really like the three different looks you have made. I agree about the purple one being perfect for a sympathy card. I like all the details you have added, like the vertical ribbon effect and the bling, as well as the embossed and punched panel x x

Hi folks, hope you're having a good weekend.  I can hardly believe I'm posting again so soon, but I really wanted to get this card on before it's too late. Here are another couple of challenge blogs I've been following since just before Christmas, but I haven't had enough supplies to be able to join in.  The first one is the Colour Q challenge  which as you can see, wants us to use the colours shown in the picture, put together beautifully in the skirt.  I don't have any of the Stampin Up! In Colours yet, so this is the first time I've been able to have a go.  The second challenge blog is Freshly Made Sketches.  I saw this and wondered if I could combine the two challenges. And so here is my card: First of all, I rotated the sketch, I just couldn't work it that way up! I decided to use a kraft card base, and stamped the image (sorry I can't remember the name of it) which I'd inked up in Old Olive, Real Red and More Mustard.

Freshly Made Sketches No. 22

I've had one of those conversations with lovely, lovely hubby.  You know the sort: DH: Can you make me a birthday card for work, please? Me: Of course darling, who's it for? DH: (In a voice of doom) A male colleague  (Cue thunder and lightening!) Me: (Swallowing) No problem.  When do you want it by? DH: (Casually) Tomorrow. Me: You're 'avin a larf! But have I let the situation defeat me?  No, I have not!  But I would like to say a huge thankyou to Freshly Made Sketches , for coming up with one of the most wonderful, and inspiring, sketches I've ever seen. This is what they've given us to work with: And this is the card I made using the sketch: I actually made a prototype card first, just using paper, as there was quite a lot of measuring to work out before I put everything together.  The card is 5x7" but then I went into metric for everything else (The joys of going to school in the '70's!) Dynamic Duos No. 1

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great Bank Holiday weekend (here in the UK), even if it is raining! Now, many of you probably already know Lesley Croghan, owner of the wonderful Always Playing With Paper blog, who runs her Merry Monday challenge from there.  If you don't, you certainly should pop over when you get time. Anyway, she's now hosting a new challenge, called Dynamic Duos, which you can find here : Her first colour choice is Pool Party and Lucky Limeade, and I couldn't resist having a go.  This is what I've made: The base is 5x7" in Very Vanilla.  (Neutrals are allowed, thank goodness!)  Then I've taken a piece of watercolour card, which is very similar to the vanilla, with the addition of a lovely texture.  I've punched out a flower using my Posy Punch, very close to the edge, so it leaves a gap.  I've put dimensionals on the back of the water colour paper and stuck it onto one of the sheets from the Everyday Enchantment
