LIM Week 66: Colour Challenge

And the colour is... Yellow!
Fortunately for me, yellow is a colour I am more than happy to footle around with (footle - technical term meaning to play, to experiement!)
And so, this is my card for this week's Less Is More challenge:
This is another of those cards that came to me in the middle of the night.  I decided to make it on scrap card at first to see if I liked it and to see if what was in my head actually worked on paper (not always the case) and was so pleased with it, I kept it.
The stamps are from various sets, the birds are by Hobby Arts and the bird house is fairly recent and was free with a magazine.  The colours are Daffodil Delight and More Mustard.
So, I stamped the bird house first and coloured it, then stamped out the birds and punched them out with my postage stamp punch.  They are the perfect size for this.  I stamped the greeting at the bottom first, then embossed a horizontal line directly above it, positioned one of the 'stamps' and embossed another horizontal line across the top of them, then turned it back over and stuck the 'stamps' in place, so I knew they would fit between the two horizontal lines (hope that makes sense!)
Looking at it now, it looks like the mummy bird is counting her babies in!  It was a lot of fun to make, and quite quick, I might make a couple more, but it ended up being an unusual card size, so I'd better go and make an unusual envelope size to go with it!
Thanks for popping in today, and please don't forget to scroll down to yesterday's post and enter the prize candy (it really is candy!) draw, which closes at midnight on Saturday.
Have a great day everyone,
Jane xx

  2. Hello Jane - firstly I just adore the word (verb?) footle and have used it for years......left over from my mum I think. Secondly, your card is absolutely fantastic...... the birdhouse is brilliant and the composition so good - a fantastic card.

  3. Love it! I've not done a card yet :o( Best get busy tomorrow lol

  4. This is a really cute card Jane, I love it. I shy away from yellow (in all aspects of my life!) but you have really made the colours work. x x

  5. So clever. Great use of yellow in a very original theme. Once again, your creativity is wonderful

  6. It really does look like mummy bird is counting up her babies.... either that or it's a harassed teacher doing the umpteenth head count on a school trip! These stamps do look striking in yellow. Great card!

  7. Really cute birdies
    Love the birdhouse
    Thank you very much

  8. It looks great Jane! I love the technical term - in fact I might have to have a footle around with my stash in a minute! Have a good weekend, Vicky x
