Less Is More: Week 57, Colour

It's been an interesting time of late.  It's one thing when your mojo gets up and goes but quite another when your mojo's alive and well but life's little hiccups get in the way of your crafting!
And so, it was with great pleasure that I sat down last night and made a card for the Less Is More challenge this week.  It's a colour challenge, and the colours to be used are neutrals.  Now, I may still be fairly new to crafting, but I do have a history of dabbling in interior design, as I love fabric and paint, and neutrals are my favourite things.
I've been wanting to make a topper like this for ages.  I cut a piece of textured card using my  Square Labels No1.die and scored it about a quarter of the way along and folded it over.  I cut some of the other 3/4 off so it goes to a point at the back, and cut a piece of the same card to stamp the image on.  The stamp is from the Stampin Up! Faith In Nature set.  I am so excited to own this because it's a Hostess Gift.  Do you remember a while ago I put in a big order and could choose a Hostess Gift?  I dithered because I really like this set, too, but opted for Simply Soft instead.  So imagine my delight when I won this set in the raffle at our recent workshop.  I never win raffle prizes so I was thrilled to walk away with this and couldn't wait to ink it up.
I stamped it a couple of times and coloured it in, but when I stamped it again I decided it was so beautiful on its own that there was no need for more colour.  It's stamped in Soft Suede, by the way.  I added 3 little brown gems from Wild Orchid Crafts.
I've mounted it on a section of Soft Suede (my favourite SU neutral) and cut the edges with the Four Frames punch, I love this effect.  I couldn't resist adding the baker's twine, I hope I don't get penalised for it, as it has a little green in it.
I've mounted the whole lot using dimensionals onto a 15cm square of Very Vanilla card.  It fascinated me that a rectangular topper looked so good on a square base.
I'm very pleased with this card and think I will be sending it to my son in law for his birthday as it has a good masculine quality to it.
Thanks for dropping in today, let me know what you think of the card, and I'd like to say a huge thankyou to Chirssie and Mandi for setting such brilliant challenges each week, I really enjoy taking part.
Have a great week, everyone.
Jane xx

  5. Love the neutrals too. And, yes, it does make a nice masculine card--perfect for a birthday. It's not an easy feat to make a good card for a man. Nicely done.
