Summer Silhouettes

I am slowly but surely falling in love with this years in-colours, after a bit of a slow start.  I've been looking around for stamp sets that really make the most of these colours.  I came across a fab card by a lovely lady who you may know as naturecoastcrafter on Splitcoast, and you can see her original card here.  It was only later, when I looked more closely, that I realised she hadn't even used the stamp set I thought, and the one I used to make my card, the lovely Summer Silhouettes.  Come and have a look:
I have heard a lot of people saying they didn't like Summer Starfruit at first, but it is the colour from the new set that appealed to me instantly, I couldn't wait to start using it, but I wanted to really show it off, and this card seemed like an excellent way of doing it.  It works beautifully with its cousin Gumball Green, used here.  I have to say the quality of this ink is nothing short of awesome.  In real life the leaves here look like they've been printed on the computer, even the hubster commented on it.  Just think, an ink that's almost too good!
The card I cased has a strip of dsp in the background, but I am very taken with the 'trellis' design in the stamp set, and it was perfect for what I wanted to achieve here (and yes, it does have a slightly Moroccan feel to it).
I have a recipient in mind for this card, who will be 95 and who has failing eyesight.  I don't think she'll have any problems seeing this though, do you?
The sentiment is from the Apothecary Art set, which I'm sure you recognise.
Talking of colours, for Christmas last year John bought me a starter set (2 sheets) of every single SU colour.  It's very interesting to see, a year on, certain colours, like Bravo Burgundy, that I haven't used once in the entire year, while I've nearly run out of my Pool Party and Real Red.  Are there any colours you never use?  I think I need to make a special project to use it up, don't you?

    Hi Jane, really like the card you have made. Like you, I was slow to like the new In-Colours but I really like them now. I don't tend to use the neutral colours much. I guess I tend to use colours from the Brights collection the most x x

Hi folks, hope you're having a good weekend.  I can hardly believe I'm posting again so soon, but I really wanted to get this card on before it's too late. Here are another couple of challenge blogs I've been following since just before Christmas, but I haven't had enough supplies to be able to join in.  The first one is the Colour Q challenge  which as you can see, wants us to use the colours shown in the picture, put together beautifully in the skirt.  I don't have any of the Stampin Up! In Colours yet, so this is the first time I've been able to have a go.  The second challenge blog is Freshly Made Sketches.  I saw this and wondered if I could combine the two challenges. And so here is my card: First of all, I rotated the sketch, I just couldn't work it that way up! I decided to use a kraft card base, and stamped the image (sorry I can't remember the name of it) which I'd inked up in Old Olive, Real Red and More Mustard.

Freshly Made Sketches No. 22

I've had one of those conversations with lovely, lovely hubby.  You know the sort: DH: Can you make me a birthday card for work, please? Me: Of course darling, who's it for? DH: (In a voice of doom) A male colleague  (Cue thunder and lightening!) Me: (Swallowing) No problem.  When do you want it by? DH: (Casually) Tomorrow. Me: You're 'avin a larf! But have I let the situation defeat me?  No, I have not!  But I would like to say a huge thankyou to Freshly Made Sketches , for coming up with one of the most wonderful, and inspiring, sketches I've ever seen. This is what they've given us to work with: And this is the card I made using the sketch: I actually made a prototype card first, just using paper, as there was quite a lot of measuring to work out before I put everything together.  The card is 5x7" but then I went into metric for everything else (The joys of going to school in the '70's!) Dynamic Duos No. 1

Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great Bank Holiday weekend (here in the UK), even if it is raining! Now, many of you probably already know Lesley Croghan, owner of the wonderful Always Playing With Paper blog, who runs her Merry Monday challenge from there.  If you don't, you certainly should pop over when you get time. Anyway, she's now hosting a new challenge, called Dynamic Duos, which you can find here : Her first colour choice is Pool Party and Lucky Limeade, and I couldn't resist having a go.  This is what I've made: The base is 5x7" in Very Vanilla.  (Neutrals are allowed, thank goodness!)  Then I've taken a piece of watercolour card, which is very similar to the vanilla, with the addition of a lovely texture.  I've punched out a flower using my Posy Punch, very close to the edge, so it leaves a gap.  I've put dimensionals on the back of the water colour paper and stuck it onto one of the sheets from the Everyday Enchantment
