I Remember When

I just want to make it clear that I have been sticking to my goal of doing a scrapbook page once a month.  I made this page in December, but there just wasn't time to upload it before Christmas.  I'd better get my skates on if I'm going to make one in January though, as it's the 12th already.  Does anybody else think January is whizzing past?
Anyway, here is a view of the overall page:
This photo was taken on a day that turned out to be a turning point in my relationship with Barnaby.  We went to a competition that had an orienteering phase, in which I got completely and hopelessly lost.  In the end I gave up (after over an hour of trying to find my way out of a woods) and said to Barnaby, "Take me home!" and within half an hour we were back at the starting point.  My love for him grew enormously that day, as you can imagine.
Let's have a look at some of the details:
Of course, a photo of The Boy.  The map at the top is the area where the competition took place.  Check us out in all our gear!  I couldn't resist including the baja breeze ribbon.

Look at this awesome brad, which is part of the Cambridge collection (Bo Bunny) and this wonderful frame that was in the SU! winter catty.  As soon as I saw these I knew I would use them for scrapbooking more than card making.  I have the decorative label punch that works perfectly with it and is easily one of the best punches I've ever bought.

I've used one of the labels collection framelits here for the background piece, that I then ran through the square lattice embossing folder.  I punched out another portion of the map with a scallop punch, before just hand drawing the compass point on the circle.  It was all about going in the wrong direction that day!
I've realised from this page that the more SU stuff you have, the more creative you can be.  Maybe that sounds obvious, but the more cardstock, punches and stamps you have, the more your imagination can go off in different directions.
I had great fun making this page.  Again it took about 2 days before I was happy with it and stuck everything down.  I will look back on this day with fondness and remember it vividly through this page.
Thanks for looking in today.  I have made more cards since Christmas, but I am finding this light terrible for getting a good photo to put on here, but I should be back with something very soon.
Take care, everyone, happy stamping!
