The Other Side Of Me

Hello everyone!  Hope you're all well and finding lots of time to craft.  August has turned out to be quite a busy month for card making and I'm only just getting round to some art journaling now.  Once the dreaded course work is done, it's going to be crafting all the way to Christmas, I can tell you! Anyway, for the card swap group in August I challenged everyone to make a tag.  Making a card to go with it was optional.  So here's my effort.  I tried something at first with Dylusions inks but I didn't like it, so I decided to have a go at this instead.  I've seen something similar on Pinterest, but to be honest they don't look anything like each other now!  The one I liked had a peg at the top, so I tried that but the peg was miles too big, so on went the button.  After that it was easy, as I have quite a few white things in my stash that all fitted perfectly on here.  Once I'd made it I was worried sick about posting it as the doily is very delic

Okay, it's not really the oldest card in the world, but it is for a lady who is 104!  How often are you going to be able to make a card for someone of that age?!  She is actually our oldest resident.  She is full of life, reads loads of books and walks down to the dining room and back, twice a day! The cardstock is Lucky Limeade, with my last, tiny bit of ribbon to match.  I've embossed the white background, embossed my oval frame and cut round it, adding a little Tim Holtz Broken China distress ink, otherwise it would have been Pool Party, but I still don't have the ink!  The little birds are from a now long retired set called Clearly For You, which was the first set I ever bought and return to again and again.  Anyway, the recipient loved the card, which made my day.  I've no idea how many candles they managed to fit on her cake, though... I saw something similar to this on Pinterest and decided to have a play.  The pink is melon mambo.  I have die cuts for the lettering. One thing led to another and before you know it, I'd made this as well: This is the card I decided to use.  The colour is calypso coral.  It's such a great colour with black.  The flowers are a very versatile die cut from Sizzix.  Back soon, I hope, and maybe even able to catch up with my recent makes. They say it's better to give than to receive.  I'm sure that's true, but I've received some beautiful cards from the Card swap group recently and would like to show you them today. The first one is this lovely little card from Victoria Jefferies: I love her sweet style.  I actually lost this card for a while and was really upset and so happy when I found it again under a pile of papers! The next one is a fabulous card from Michelle.  I love the colour scheme and of course it's got butterflies on it!  What's not to like? Last month I challenged everyone to make a card no bigger than 4" x 4".  This is mine: It's the maximum size and in Calypso Coral, a colour I'm falling in love with.  I've used a scrap of Everyday Enchantment dsp and my little oval frame to pop a little stamped image in that was free with a magazine. But I feel topped by the card made by Aileen Skene here: It's a tiny 3" x 3" card
