The Other Side Of Me

Hello all! Just popping in with a quick post today. I've seen some beautiful colour combinations recently and had to have a go at some of my own.  I wanted to make a card for my Floor Manager at work, and this is what I came up with: It's a Z fold card made using Baja Breeze cardstock.  I inked up my Summer Silhouettes stamp set and away I went.  The colours are Early Espresso, Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake.  This was such a simple card to make.  The dsp is part of the Twitterpated set and the Happy Birthday is from the old Elementary Elegance stamp set.  A very sweet combo, I'm sure you'll agree. Isn't it lovely when you remember making someone a card last year and a whole year has gone by and now you're making one for this year?  This is the card I made earlier this month for my eldest grandson Christian: Christian is football crazy, so once again I've gone for a football image.  This one is by LOTV and it's so sweet.  I dithered about it because Christian is 9 so I wondered if it was too young for him, but apparently he loved it. The stripe across this white 5x7 card is real red and the little flags at the bottom are basic black and basic gray, as is the border on the stamped image.  I've coloured the little boy with Promarkers.  I had a lightbulb moment with the inside of the card as I realised I could just ink the football and stamp it out by itself like this: That could be a very handy thing to have in itself anyway, couldn't it?  (I have four grandsons!)  I was very pleased with the finished result, it was a nice, sharp, clean card, ide

I'm so sorry I've just realised the quality of this photo isn't all that great, I seem to have a smudge on my lense, but I just wanted to show you the card I made for this month's swap group.  I've been wanting to make a joyfold card for ages, and actually received one as part of my swaps last month and this made me even more keen to make one.  I found a very good tutorial on Splitcoast and was away. I decided not to use a picture for my central piece, but the sentiment that comes from the Faith In Nature set.  This is the first time I've ever used it. It was one of those cards where you're not really sure if it's going to fit into a standard size envelope as you're making it and you have visions of having to make a special envelope to fit it, and heave a sigh of relief when you've finished and it goes into a normal envelope - phew! I am thrilled to say my friend Lynne has ordered 10 cards from me.  How fab is it to know someone who likes your cards so much they order 10 at a time?!  I've sent off 8, and this is one of them: I saw a very similar card on Pinterest from Lisa Martz blog here .  I liked the colour scheme very much, but realised I liked the tall image in the centre panel.  I hunted around for what I had in mind and found my lovely bay tree image.  I don't know who makes this, it's just in a set of stamps in the Born To Shop range. I made this, with it's Lucky Limeade cardstock, and then black and assembled all the parts, and then had to leave it in my drawer while the Pool Party ribbon winged it's way to me and then I put it all together.  It's lovely to think Calypso Coral is coming back, isn't it? I've realised I haven't put any sort of sentiment on it, but then she can use it for whatever she wants, can't she? I need to crack on and make her two more car

My lovely Auntie Rose was 70 this month.  To me she will always be about 45, which is ridiculous, as I'm older than that now myself!  She lives right down on the south coast, so I sent her some flowers.  Of course I had to make a card to go with it, and here it is: The dsp is from a Prima set called Botanicals and it's full of these beautifully soft colours.  The cardstock is Crumb Cake and I stamped my dress form image on it in Soft Suede ink.  I then stamped the same image onto a piece of the same dsp and cut it out.  It looks beautiful on the Crumb Cake.  Before that I ran the cardstock through the Bigshot in the oval designer frames embossing folder.  This came out beautifully smooth and so I punched out an oval of the dsp and aded it to the centre.  I stamped 'Happiest Birthday' from the Apothecary Art set and cut it into a nice long banner shape.  I've propped the centre of it up on sticky fixers to give it a bit of dimension. Good morning everyone!  It's a dull rainy day here, but we are desperate for the rain, so I am not going to complain.  My horse needs grass! Anyway, I have a special card to share with you today.  Check this out: This is the front of what looks like a fairly simple card.  The dsp is Everyday Enchantment, with a large piece of Pool Party cardstock cut using my framelits dies and then run through the Bigshot with the square lattice embossing folder. (I still have lots of this dsp left, which is why I'm so pleased Pool Party is staying with us.) The stamp is Summer Silhouettes in Lucky Limeade and Calypso Coral with Happy Birthday stamped with my new stamp set, but it's very similar to the one in the retired Elementary Elegance set. I didn't realise until the card was finished that the dots on the flower really reflect the dots in the dsp. I've popped a little piece of Pool Party ribbon on the side, to add to the softness of the card. But the really clever bit c

I've had a bit of fun recently with my Trendy Trees set.  This came to me in the middle of the night and I couldn't wait to get up and see if I could make it.  I was only thinking this would be a practise run but it worked perfectly, so I kept it! The card is my usual 5"x7" and I just lined the embossing folder up in the centre.  That worked out well so I popped one on either side and it came out beautifully.  I decided to stamp directly into the ovals, knowing that I have the large oval punch on standby, so if the trees didn't look right I could punch out a shape that fits perfectly in the centre of the ovals and try again. The colours I've used are Rose Red and Wild Wasabi which go really well together.  I wanted to make a different style of tree and was really pleased at how well these turned out.  I'm sure I've seen that Rose Red and Perfect Plum will move from Subtles to Regals, which is interesting.  They didn't really look right in with

I made a card last week for my manager, who turned 40.  A very important moment in a girl's life, I'm sure you'll agree!  I knew I wanted to use numbers on the card and cruised around looking for what I had in mind.  I used a card by Debby Hughes which you can see here. I used a different embossing folder.  I love this one as it's 5x7" like most of my cards.  The colour is River Rock.  I cut out the numbers with my new MFT dies and covered them in glitter glue, which you can't really see here.  I don't use glitter very often at all, but if you can't have a bit of bling when you're 40, when can you?! I've put them on a cut out using my labels collection framelits to cut out a piece of textured cardstock in Pretty in Pink and then drawn round the same frame on white cardstock and cut it out by hand.  I typed the wording on the computer and cut it out after printing it off, making it into a banner.  I've popped on a couple of pink stars and

I'm feeling pretty perky this morning as the time has come for my break from work quite quickly this time round.  I'm not back in work until Monday morning, which gives me plenty of time to craft and blog.  I really look forward to these times.  There's nothing nicer than spending an hour at your desk getting creative, is there? I have a few cards to catch up on with you, so we'd better start straight away: I don't even know where I got the inspiration for this card, I just went with the flow.  I'd spent a week looking through my stamps to find something suitable for a colleague at work who is only about twenty.  I did struggle as most of my stamps are geared to older women, until I unearthed this stamp from a set that was free with a magazine quite a while ago.  I used a kraft card base and a strip of So Saffron dsp, with a touch of Rose Red card stock.  This is such an awesome colour and I don't use nearly enough of it.  I stamped the little bird on
