The Other Side Of Me

Hello all, I hope you've coped ok with the bad weather we've been having.  I've had a week off work and haven't ridden at all.  That's never happened to me before!  It's a good job I've got crafting to fall back on, isn't it?  I've been extremely busy in the craft room and am currently working on something extra special, which I'll show you as soon as I can. But for now, here's a card I've really enjoyed making: I've made it as a lovely way to use up the last of my Pear Pizzazz cardstock.  I've decided it's definitely time to give it a good home and move on.  I've searched and searched for the original card to give it some credit, but I can't find where it's come from.  I've used one of the stamps from the Simply Soft stamp set, which I stamped in Gumball Green, which I think was a bit powerful, but it's stll a lovely card.  By the time I'd put the Lucky Limeade ribbon on it, it didn't seem to m

Hello everyone, I hope you're not too cold, whatever you're doing.  I am in the middle of a blissful week off work.  I had, of course, thought I'd be riding, but the snow has put paid to that, hasn't it?  What is a girl to do, but put the kettle on and get the inks out?! I recently bought a new set of Sizzix stamps and dies and couldn't wait to get home and open them.  BUT also, I am in love with the colour combination on the new More Amore dsp, which contains Pool Party, Primrose Petals and Real Red.  In previous years I've made and sold loads of Valentine's cards, as I sold them in two local shops, but this year there will only be one card for the hubster.  So instead  I decided to play around with the colour combo as I've decided it's not just for Valentine's day.  Here's what I made: I made this as a result of just playing with the colours and not really minding if I didn't have a card at the end of it.  The base is Pool Party

Obviously it's dawned on me over a period of time that when you see a group of SU! colours on a set of dsp, it's their way of saying, "Hello!  These colours work together well, guys!" (for people who are a bit thick, like me!) So I keep noticing cards using the new dsp Sycamore Street (part of sale-a-bration, by the sound of it) and am fascinated by the colour scheme of Island Indigo, Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand, Summer Starfruit and Tangerine Tango.  These are colours it would just never occur to me to put together, but I find them so striking, I just had to have a play.  This is what I made: So you can see, the base of this 4"x4" card is Island Indigo, with a slightly smaller square of Rich Razzleberry (a colour I've hardly touched) that has been run through the square lattice embossing folder, followed by a stamp from Four Frames in Tangerine Tango.  I have never used this colour before, even though I've had it a year.  I cut

I am slowly but surely falling in love with this years in-colours, after a bit of a slow start.  I've been looking around for stamp sets that really make the most of these colours.  I came across a fab card by a lovely lady who you may know as naturecoastcrafter on Splitcoast, and you can see her original card here .  It was only later, when I looked more closely, that I realised she hadn't even used the stamp set I thought, and the one I used to make my card, the lovely Summer Silhouettes.  Come and have a look: I have heard a lot of people saying they didn't like Summer Starfruit at first, but it is the colour from the new set that appealed to me instantly, I couldn't wait to start using it, but I wanted to really show it off, and this card seemed like an excellent way of doing it.  It works beautifully with its cousin Gumball Green, used here.  I have to say the quality of this ink is nothing short of awesome.  In real life the leaves here look like they've

I just want to make it clear that I have been sticking to my goal of doing a scrapbook page once a month.  I made this page in December, but there just wasn't time to upload it before Christmas.  I'd better get my skates on if I'm going to make one in January though, as it's the 12th already.  Does anybody else think January is whizzing past? Anyway, here is a view of the overall page: This photo was taken on a day that turned out to be a turning point in my relationship with Barnaby.  We went to a competition that had an orienteering phase, in which I got completely and hopelessly lost.  In the end I gave up (after over an hour of trying to find my way out of a woods) and said to Barnaby, "Take me home!" and within half an hour we were back at the starting point.  My love for him grew enormously that day, as you can imagine. Well, can you believe it?  I think this is my fourth year in blogland!  Doesn't time fly?!  I started out just wanting to keep a diary of my antics on the farm, then started this blog to keep my crafting separate as it grew and took on a life of its own, and it's become very important to me.
